The Middle East
German-American political scientist Hans Morgenthau discusses the current state of the Middle East, particularly in relation to Israel. Morgenthau contends that the Middle East has undergone a recent, rapid transformation due to four primary factors: the underestimation of enemy military forces by Israel, increased involvement of the Soviet Union, international dependence on oil, and Israel’s economic dependence on the United States. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
