“What good shall I do this day?”

Ben Franklin

The Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact brings the mission of 92nd Street Y to the world.

We believe that when voices are heard, communities are connected and ideas are nurtured from the ground up, movements can grow and real change can begin. Through grassroots global initiatives, leadership programs and civic movements, the Belfer Center has created a vibrant worldwide community built around big ideas and doing good.

Explore our programs

  • In the spirit of Benjamin Franklin’s mutual-improvement club, Ben Franklin Circles gives anyone anywhere the tools to convene their own “junto” and spark discussions about virtue, ethics, leadership, and community in the 21st century to improve ourselves and the world around us.

The program is now scaling to cities around the world.

  • Founded by 92Y in 2012 and incubated in its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, #GivingTuesday has grown into a groundbreaking global generosity movement.
