New York-based jewelry designer Russell Jones graduated as an illustrator from Rhode Island School of Design, but always had his sights set on mastering the art of metalsmithing. His career focused fully on jewelry in 2005, but he has been making it since he was a teenager. His design process starts with the stones or beads he wants to showcase, then he says "I draw until I’m happy". Russell usually builds his work out of wire and sheet metal in silver and gold. Even with his passion for craftsmanship and his forceful visionary drive, Russell ensures that ‘spectacular’ does not equal ‘over the top’. How do people describe his work?
