Our School of Music shares a hilarious songwriting game for older kids, in which everyone creates their own lyrics to a popular song based on a randomly selected word. “Lasagna" and “Let It Go”? “Toothache" and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”? Here’s how to play:

Everyone in the family writes down three words (nouns work best), each on an individual slip of paper, folds the paper and places in a hat. Each player then writes the name of three songs the whole family knows on three other slips of paper, folds and places in a second hat. The person chosen to go first randomly picks one slip of paper from each hat. Everyone then has five minutes to write completely new lyrics to the chosen melody based on the word choice (the first verse and chorus are all you need). When time’s up, each person sings their song! Start again with new picks!

Please note that all 92Y regularly scheduled in-person programs are suspended.
