Camp staff

Join the 92NY Camps staff team! We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic individuals to make a difference in Summer 2024.

Our Staff

Staff are carefully chosen for their maturity, energy and experience with children. Counselors are entering 11th grade and older. Specialists are skilled and experienced in the areas they teach. Unit supervisors and head counselors are caring, experienced educators with a love for children and a commitment to our camp philosophy and program. A large percentage of our staff return year after year and many of our counselors attended our camps when they were children. The camp administration is comprised of experienced professionals who have many decades of camp experience to draw upon to ensure a fabulous summer for our campers.

The Staff Experience

At 92NY Camps, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: live in New York City while traveling to your “office” in the country (all campers and staff travel together on coach buses each day). 92NY’s team philosophy creates a stimulating work environment in which every staff member is valued. The administrative team is comprised of dedicated professionals trained in the fields of education and social work and we welcome new staff onto our team each summer. We are looking for staff who can work the full summer, from Thursday, June 27-Friday, August 16, 2024.

We are seeking applicants for a wide range of positions including counselors, activity specialists, supervisors and more. Competitive Salaries Offered.

Camp Leadership Positions

Directors, Assistant Directors, Supervisors, and Head Counselors

These positions may include pre-camp planning including spring retreats, hiring of staff and correspondence with camp families. They also involve supervising staff. Camp Leadership expected to help incorporate our camp Jewish values including: mindfulness, compassion, courage, being a leader and being a mensch into the staff and camper experience.

Leadership staff must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours, outdoors and still smile. We are also interested in fluent Hebrew speakers to work at camp Ilanot, 92Y’s Hebrew immersion camp.

Program Aides

This position is specifically for current 9th graders (entering 10th grade in Fall 2024). Program Aides “PAs” are responsible for helping ensure camp runs smoothly. This role involves setting up for lunch, supporting towel service and being a team player.

Counselors (General and Teen Travel)

Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers. Counselors must be enthusiastic, caring and be able to be a supportive role model to children ages 5-14. Counselor responsibilities also include leading groups of campers and participating in all group activities throughout the day.

Camp Yomi – Traditional day camp for entering Kindergarten-4th graders
Camp Ilanot – Hebrew Immersion for entering Kindergarten-4th graders
Camp Yomi Seniors – entering 5th and 6th graders.
Staff accompany the campers to our campgrounds in Rockland County, day trips from the city each day as well as a few overnight trips.
Trailblazers – our teen travel camp for entering 7th-9th graders.
Staff accompany the campers on a day-trips from the city each day as well as a few overnight trips throughout the summer.

Counselors for Campers with Special Needs

The Special Needs Camp Counselor is responsible for directly supervising and nurturing a specific child or small group of children in Camp Tova or Camp Bari Tov. Camp Tova is designed for campers with ADD/HD, Learning Disabilities, and other social or emotional challenges, and Camp Bari Tov is designed for campers with developmental disabilities including but not limited to Autism and Down Syndrome. Experience working with these populations is preferred.

Activity Instructors (Arts, Culture, Sports)

The Camp Activity Instructor is responsible for the planning, leading, and implementing of age-appropriate instruction for his/her specified activity (see list below). They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants that attend his/her specialty program. The incumbent will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants. Applicants must have experience teaching their activity and be at minimum a college graduate as of May 2023 to qualify for this position.

Infirmary Staff

Some spring pre-camp work may be required for all health provider positions.

Qualifications:

  • Registered nurse (RN) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with a New York State license as required by that state law.
  • CPR and RTE certified.
  • Current First aid certification and experience in first aid and emergency management.
  • Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care.
  • Desire to work with children and young adults.
  • Community health knowledge.

Camp K’Ton Ton

We are seeking aspiring or current early childhood educators to work in our early childhood camp this summer. Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers. Counselors must be enthusiastic, caring, and be able to be supportive role models to children ages 3-5. Counselor responsibilities also include leading groups of campers and participating in all group activities throughout the day including swim. All camp programs take place within the 92Y Nursery School in New York City.
