The Spitzer Institute, supported by Anne & Bernard Spitzer, is a 92YServes Teen Center Program which encourages high school students to think critically about contemporary issues and to understand the importance of taking an active role in shaping a democratic society. The Spitzer Institute addresses topics in the forefront of our national and international dialogue.
Students and teachers from partnering New York City high schools are invited and encouraged to attend, with a certificate of completion provided at the end of the event, which is good for college applications, national honor society applications, and other educational and volunteer group applications.
Each Spitzer Institute seminar is filled with conversation about a specific worldly political topic — from the economic crisis of Europe, to the multitude of disputes in the Middle East, to China and Russia’s emergence as world powers as well as the 2016 US Presidential Elections — accompanied by interactive discussion, Q&A with the speaker, and a relaxed yet unique educational environment.
A free, light dinner is also served.
Of the many speakers we invite, we regularly welcome Professor Ralph Buultjens, of NYU and Cambridge University. He is an expert in Global History and International Politics, a frequent commentator on the world media, and a professor at NYU and Cambridge University (UK).
