Learn methods of paint application, color formation and visual representation.
Students will review some of the basic issues in watercolor painting such as value and light, color mixing, wet-in-wet vs wet-over-dry and also look to a specific artists for inspiration to allow students to work on refining their craft.
All classes scheduled to occur onsite are subject to state and federal safety guidelines. In the event that some, or all, of the meetings of the course cannot happen in person at 92Y, classes will be held at the schedule time in a virtual format via a video conferencing platform. The classes will continue through hands-on, at home activities, lectures, presentations, and / or group discussions. No refunds will be issued should any portion of a course be held virtually.

Allison Maletz is a contemporary watercolor and mixed media artist. She received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, London. She has taught people from age 8-80 and currently leads painting, drawing, installation and professional practices for artists classes at Marymount Manhattan College and 3rd Ward. She has exhibited various mediums in the Liverpool Biennial, New Contemporaries UK, Zoo Art Italy, The Royal Watercolor Society in London and the Moscow Biennale for Young Artists at the MMoMA. Kozol’s awards include an NEA Visual Arts Fellowship for Painting, a grant to study drawing at the New York Studio School and the Bill Prize at Connecticut College.
