Learn the fundamentals of jazz keyboard with a professional performer and educator.
The Beginner level covers the fundamentals of jazz harmony, rhythm, melody, improvisation and repertoire from the jazz pianist’s perspective. Topics include harmonic voicings, rhythmic “comping” and solo piano styles. The repertoire consists of songs from the Great American Songbook and jazz legends such as Duke Ellington and Sonny Rollins.
Class size is limited to seven.

James Reynolds is a freelance jazz pianist in New York City. He teaches group piano and private jazz piano and composition lessons at the 92nd Street Y.
Jamie is very active on the jazz scene and performs regularly with some of New York's finest musicians. He has toured across Canada and the United States and Europe and can be heard regularly in clubs around the city.
Jamie received a Bachelor of Music with honors in jazz performance from the University of Toronto.
