Instructors

Cheryl Paswater

Cheryl Paswater holds her Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Masters in Art History from the Pratt Institute. Her work is largely comprised of Paintings, Prints, Works on Paper, as well as works in Bookmaking, Sculpture, Projections and Installation Art.

Her work has been exhibited at various galleries including the Pratt Institute, Artists Space, Cannonball Press, Select Art Fair, St. Josephs College, Harrison Center for the Arts, J.Martin Gallery, Nurture Art, Pierogi and the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art. She has also worked on collaborative projects and performances with Loteria Performing Arts, as well as having Public Art Installations in Upstate New York and Brooklyn.

Cheryl has also been an Artist in Residence at the Vermont Studio Center, Chashama Studio Residency in New York, Cooper Union, Women’s Studio Workshop, the Creative Center and has been in various publications including Studio Visit Magazine & Whitefish Review ...

Philip Vanderhyden

Philip Vanderhyden is an artist living and working in New York. Born in Wisconsin in 1978, Vanderhyden earned a BFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2001 and an MFA from Northwestern University in 2004 and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2001. Vanderhyden has exhibited extensively nationally. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Artnet and Artslant, among others. He recently concluded a solo exhibition of his work at Andrew Rafacz Gallery in Chicago and curated the retrospective of Pictures Generation artist Gretchen Bender.

In addition to 92nd Street Y, Vanderhyden has taught a range of courses, from undergraduate to graduate level, at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University and The University of Illinois at Chicago among others.

Eva Nikolova

Eva Nikolova is a Bulgarian‐born visual artist who works in drawing, painting, printmaking, hand‐drawn animation and cameraless photography. She holds a BFA in Painting/Printmaking from Southern Illinois University and MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University, Bloomington. Anna Shukeylo

Anna Shukeylo is an artist, primarily a painter, working and living in New York City. She graduated from Pratt Institute with her MFA in Painting. She received classical training from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she received her BFA/Certificate in painting. Her work has been exhibited throughout New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and most recently in a solo show at the Museum of Russian Art in Jersey City. Matthew Fischer

Matthew Fischer lives and works in New York City. He makes oil paintings as well as drawings with ink and other water media. He attended Columbia University School of the Arts where he received an MFA in Visual Art. He has been an artist in residence at The Edward F. Albee Foundation in Montauk, NY, The Lighthouse Works on Fishers Island, NY and The Vermont Studio Center. Paul Shore

Paul Shore received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has exhibited his work in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston and has taught at Williams College, Hartford Art School, Marlboro College and Penland School of Crafts. Art residency fellowships have included MacDowell Colony, Ragdale Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Blue Mountain Center. In regards to teaching, Shore says, “in executing successful work head and hand must work together. I aim at developing both concurrently within each student. Conceptual development is nurtured along with technical and formal instruction. I dispel the notion of following “the right way” in favor of placing the emphasis on finding one’s way.”

Zach Seeger

Zach Seeger is a painter and sculptor working in Brooklyn and upstate New York. He received his BFA from Binghamton University and MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has exhibited in the stARTup Fair LA, Artspace Tetra in Fukoka, Japan and Life on Mars Gallery, Brooklyn. He has taught 3D Design, sculpture, painting, drawing and graphic design at Brown University, Berkeley College and Binghamton University. Rachel Grobstein

Rachel Grobstein was born in 1984 in Chicago, and is currently living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated recently from the Rhode Island School of Design with an MFA in Painting with Honors, and also holds a BA cum laude in Visual Art and Philosophy from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions nationally.
