92nd Street Y is passionate about forging paths, making opportunities and offering space and support for artists to produce new and innovative work.

The artists of Musical Theater Development Lab create work that challenges and intersects the vocabularies of both musical theatre and concert dance. The Lab brings together artists in a safe space to explore new techniques in both generating performance, and collaborative processes. The Lab has two programs: The collective and the Resident Artist Program.

The Collective supports up to 10 emerging hybrid artists for a one-year residency of educational and creative events. The Resident Artist series provides up to 2 years of both financial and production support towards their Lab Production, an original evening-length Musical Theatre work presented by 92nd Street Y.
