Three-Year Alternate Route Dance Therapy Summer Training Program
92Y’s Alternate Route Dance Therapy Training program offers Dance/Movement Therapy course requirements of 270 hours for Alternate Route training, plus 90 hours of Movement Observation and Analysis and 45 hours of Group Process in DMT, as required by the American Dance Therapy Association. Wellness in Motion: Dance Therapy for Individuals with Alzheimer’s or Dementia
Using dance therapy principles and expressive movement to engage, inspire and uplift individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caregivers. Movement experiences are provided on chairs as well as through ambulatory explorations. Each class is developed through improvisation and tailored to the needs of the participants, and a wide variety of music is used to provide rhythmic support and enjoyment. Verbalization is encouraged.
Wellness in Motion: Dance Therapy for Movement Disorders
Using music, rhythm and dance, this class is an enjoyable way for those with Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and other movement disorders to increase mobility, reconnect with their body, restore balance and stability, and revive energy … All in a safe, social and supportive environment.
