The Center for Arts Learning & Leadership celebrates a culture of inclusion and embraces difference across race, gender, age, religion and experience.

These values are reflected in our practices and programming:

  • Staff & Teaching Artists - Our expert staff and teaching artists reflect the multicultural school communities we collaborate with throughout New York City.
  • Celebrating World Cultures and Traditions - Our programs connect K-12 students and teachers with renowned artists from around the globe representing a wide range of cultural and artistic traditions.
  • Integrated and Interdisciplinary Curricula - Our in-depth, original curricula in the performing, visual and literary arts develop students’ ability to understand context, compare cultures and engage with great works of art. We use multiple modalities to address different learning styles and maximize student engagement with content.
  • Diversifying the Creative Industries Pipeline - We are committed to creating opportunities for young talent from NYC public schools to pursue careers in the creative arts industries. We enable students to take on leadership roles at 92Y and provide early-career support to connect students with job opportunities at cultural arts organizations throughout NYC.
  • Culture of Collaboration - We believe in close collaboration with school-based educators, students and artists who bring a diverse range of experiences, viewpoints and backgrounds.
