We’re seeking performers in grades 1-12 for 92Y Musical Theater’s production of Beauty & The Beast Jr.!
This audition workshop will walk each performer through the audition process from start to finish—filling out audition forms, singing auditions, dancing auditions and cold reads, all with feedback. It is a wonderful experience for performers of all level of experience.
Actors interested in principal roles are strongly advised to attend the auditions. Performers who are not interested in a principal role are not required to audition, and all performers who register for the class will receive an ensemble part.
Selected students—based on their audition—may be eligible for a merit-based scholarship. There is no fee to attend the audition workshop, but registration is required.
Thu, Sep 12, 4:30-6 pm
Fri, Sep 13, 4:30-6 pm
Sat, Sep 14, 2-3:30 pm
At the workshop, students will be taught and then asked to sing a short cut from the song “Be Our Guest” or "Beauty And The Beast." Those who don’t wish to be considered for a solo part may audition as a group. Performers interested in a featured dancing role will not need to sing at their audition (and will learn the song as an experience).
Performers will be given a short scene to read. Coaches will work with each child to ensure everyone gives their best performance.
Students will be taught a short dance routine which they will perform in groups. Performers who identify as high-level dancers should bring jazz and tap shoes; all other dancers may wear sneakers. All students should be dressed in comfortable clothes they can move in.
