We’re seeking performers ages 10+ for 92Y Musical Theater’s production of 42nd Street: Young Performers Edition.
This audition workshop will walk each performer through the audition process from start to finish—filling out audition forms, singing, dancing and cold reads, all with feedback. All performers must attend the audition to participate in this show, as this production is “audition-only”. Our two other Fall Musicals “Beauty & The Beast” and “Cinderella” do not require an audition.
Selected students—based on their audition—may be eligible for a merit-based scholarship. There is no fee to attend the audition workshop, but registration is required.
Audition Dates

Audition Preparation
Singing
At the workshop, students will be taught and then asked to sing a short cut from the show. Those who don’t wish to be considered for a solo part may audition as a group. Performers interested in a featured dancing role will not need to sing at their audition (and will learn the song as an experience).
Reading
Performers will be given a short scene to read. Coaches will work with each child to ensure everyone gives their best performance.
Dancing
Students will be taught a short dance routine which they will perform in groups. Performers who identify as high-level dancers should bring jazz and tap shoes; all other dancers may wear sneakers. All students should be dressed in comfortable clothes they can move in.
What to bring
- Recent photo (a snapshot or school photo is fine)
