During 7 Days of Genius, GMin’s Innovation Lab (InLab) members will work on prototypes for smart schools, smart cities and smart homes that steer communities to low and high-tech solutions that address immediate community needs. Global Minimum (GMin) will then host the GMin Innovation Lab Presentationat the Kivuli Community Center, in Dagoretti, Nairobi County where members will present their solutions to peers, educators, family members and members of the community.

Julie will also share some examples of where the method has been already taken up on a higher level such as China and what are the hidden possibilities that are coming up as challenges in our ever changing global ecosystem.

Petra Stefankova an award winning illustrator, graphic designer and visual artist, will use this year’s Festival theme “ Creativity for the Common Good” as a platform to teach children how to collaborate through drawing.

The NYC FIRST STEM CENTER will be holding a one day Python and Raspberry Pi Hackathon with the students we serve. Together we will work to examine our MakerSpace’s relationship to the community of Roosevelt Island, a group which we are now a member of. We will identify problem areas in our outreach and communications, work together to propose solutions, and choose one solution to prototype using Python and Raspberry Pi. This is Hackathon will encourage our students to consider their responsibilities as community members in this space and on this island.
