Members of New York-based orchestra The Knights share music that takes flight, written for flute, clarinet, strings and harp.
As the pandemic has forced humanity to confront some of nature's destructive power, it has also been an opportunity to slow down and notice its beauty in many different forms, particularly in the guise of birds and other winged creatures, often found hovering right outside our windows. Music across cultures has often been inspired by either literal birdsong or the spiritual experience of uplift through sound. Musicians from The Knights will demonstrate their individual instruments' capabilities as well as how they blend together to tell sonic stories of winged creatures.
Program to include musical excerpts from the following works:

This event is produced through 92Y’s Young Leaders Series: a virtual education program that connects classrooms across the country with leading figures in the arts and humanities.
