It isn’t often that over a mile stretch of Manhattan waterfront becomes available for the development of commercial and residential innovations.
But that is what happened when the meat market and freight and passenger ship travel left West Chelsea. The change began with the prospect of turning a long-unused set of elevated tracks into the High Line Park. Some of the world’s most prominent architects have designed spectacular structures here that make this neighborhood a world-class architectural destination. Tour highlights include Piano’s Whitney Museum of American Art, Gehry’s “Glass Schooner,” Hadid’s first residential project in New York City and more!
This tour ends at approximately 12 pm.
Meet at Gansevoort & Ninth Ave, southwest corner.
Pre-registration for all tours is required at least 24 hrs in advance. Attendees will be emailed details of the tour — with specific meeting location and additional directions 24 hrs in advance of the tour. All tours happen rain or shine.
