A profound statement about humanity and the power of art
The first half of this remarkable music and film event features visionary violinist Gidon Kremer and soloists from his Kremerata Baltica performing music of prominent 20th century Polish-Jewish composer Mieczysław Weinberg. The second half features a short animated film on the extraordinary pebble sculptures of Syrian artist Nizar Ali Badr, with a recorded soundtrack of music of Schumann and others by Kremer and musicians from Kremerata Baltica. Following the screening, Kremer will be joined by WQXR Creative Director Clemency Burton-Hill for a discussion about the making of the film and the importance of its subject. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event.
