Discover the wisdom of the Buddha’s original teachings on mindfulness with expert teacher Eric Harrison, and learn how to cultivate tranquility, attention and good judgment through meditation.

The word ‘mindfulness’ was invented in 1881 to translate the Buddhist word for ‘attention’. The original 2500-year-old text known as ‘The Foundations of Mindfulness’ emphasizes clear seeing, good judgment and self-observation in pursuit of ultimate goals. Nowadays however, the word ‘mindfulness’ is reinterpreted to include the Zen ideal of ‘Emptiness’, or ‘Just sitting, not thinking’, or ‘a state of open, nonjudgmental acceptance’. So is mindfulness the everyday skill of discriminating attention? Or is it a passive, meditative state of mind? Or both? Join author and meditation and mindfulness expert Eric Harrison to unravel this confusion.

Eric Harrison will sign copies of Foundations of Mindfulness following the event.
