Fern Mallis returns to our stage this fall with a new series of Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis conversations. Marking the 10th anniversary of her namesake series, she invites some of the buzziest new voices in the business — the next-gen designers who are changing the face of fashion.
In December, Fern welcomes Brandon Maxwell. Dressing Lady Gaga is not a bad way to get your big break. Learn more about how this Project Runway judge is also committed to dressing every person in America with his new role as Creative Director at Walmart Fashion.
More on Brandon Maxwell: Maxwell’s luxury women’s ready-to-wear label launched in New York in 2015. Raised in Longview, Texas, and trained as a photographer, Maxwell honed his skills as a stylist working with Deborah Afshani, Edward Enninful, and Nicola Formichetti. He established a styling career in 2012 acting as fashion director to Lady Gaga and working with such photographers as Inez and Vinoodh, Mario Sorrenti, and Mario Testino.
Brandon Maxwell is worn by many iconic women, including Michelle Obama, Meghan Markle, Oprah, Blake Lively, Jane Fonda, Queen Rania of Jordan, and Tiffany Haddish. Maxwell’s many awards include the 2020 AAFA Designer of the Year Award, the 2019 CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year, the 2019 FGI Fashion Star Award, and the 2019 Texas Medal of Art for Design.
Brandon Maxwell joins Fern Mallis for an intimate and revealing conversation about his inspirations, motivation and career so far.
