Central Park Nature Walks with Ken Chaya

Fall Foliage 1: The North Woods

The northern area of the park is one of the most beautiful to explore. Meet migrant songbirds in the dense canopy along the quiet stream that flows through the Loch. See oaks, maples, elms and hickories ablaze with autumn color.

Join Ken Chaya, artist, urban naturalist and creator of the celebrated tree map Central Park Entire, for unique nature walks in Central Park. Discover obscure footpaths and architectural features, and spot resident and migrant birds (bring binoculars!). Signed maps available at a discount for all attendees.

Pre-registration for all tours is required at least 24 hrs in advance. Attendees will be emailed details of the tour — with specific meeting location and additional directions 24 hrs in advance of the tour. All tours happen rain or shine.

Ken Chaya

Ken Chaya is a New York City artist, designer and urban naturalist. He spent over two and half years walking every acre of Central Park in order to map its many trails, highlight its stunning architecture and landscape features, and most importantly, locate and identify thousands of its magnificent trees. The result was “Central Park Entire,” a profusely illustrated map detailing the park’s varied topography and featuring the location and identification of nearly 20,000 trees and shrubs.
