92Y Teen Producers is a creative youth-development program that prepares public high school students to enter New York’s growing arts-and-entertainment industry.

Through hands-on workshops and mentorship from 92Y staff, the program enables students to acquire the technical, curatorial and leadership skills to produce a professional-quality performance that amplifies their artistic voices. The culminating performance requires students to be responsible for all aspects of the event, including programming, marketing, backstage production and audience development.

Career Labs

92Y creative directors, producers, sounds designers, graphic artists, web designers and marketers lead monthly roundtable discussions about their professional paths and roles at 92Y.

Professional Workshops

Students begin the process of producing their own live arts performance through participation in interactive workshops on such subjects as artist selection, budgeting, production and marketing. Workshops take place after school at 92Y.

Live Arts Performance

With the support of 92Y staff and classroom teachers, students use the skills and resources acquired through the program to produce a live arts performance — featuring dance, music or spoken word — at 92Y. The performance goes “on tour” to one of the high schools represented by a student in the program.

Eligible students must be:
  • Juniors enrolled in a New York City public high school
  • Considering a career in the arts
  • Available to attend weekly meetings at 92Y
  • Have the written consent of a parent or guardian to apply

Email 92Y Center for Education Outreach Associate Director Ava Lehrer if you’re interested in becoming a 92Y Teen Producer.
