3D Digital Design
92Y launched its STEAM programs with 3D Digital Design, a dynamic project-based learning program that uniquely combines STEM pedagogy with a creative arts curriculum for middle and high school students. Over the course of the school year, students learn SketchUp Pro (3D modeling software for professionals) in order to complete engineering exercises, architectural sketches and create a major independent project that will be printed on a 3D printer, or built for their school, and displayed for their community.
“The 92Y Digital Design program at TAPCo is the first cornerstone of STEAM at our school which stands for learning grounded in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, & Math — the very kind of learning our students require to succeed when they graduate and enter today’s institution of higher learning and most importantly — a more challenging and competitive economy than ever before.” — Principal Ron Link
Grades 6-12: 24 sessions; original curriculum materials; monthly teacher planning sessions; TA-led workshops for classroom teachers; sharing and showcasing of student work.
