Musical Introduction Series

92Y’s Musical Introduction Series empowers children in grades K-3 to explore the world’s musical genres and engage in music-making. By learning about rich musical traditions in class and at live performances, children cultivate a global perspective that nurtures empathy and understanding for people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Schools Partnership Program

The Partnership Program provides elementary public schools with comprehensive arts programs so that, in any given year, every child in the school engages in arts learning as part of the core curriculum. Students learn the fundamentals of their respective disciplines — dance, chorus, world music, visual art or digital design—and attend professional performances and exhibitions at 92Y.

Concerts Schools Project

The Concerts Schools Project enhances music education for students at NYC public high schools through attendance at live performances in 92Y’s world-class Concerts Series and participation in classroom workshops led by professional performing artists. This free program cultivates audience-going habits and a lifelong love of music.

Digital Design

Our 3D Digital Design project-based learning program uniquely combines STEM pedagogy with a creative arts curriculum for middle and high school students. Over the course of the school year, students learn SketchUp Pro (3D modeling software for professionals) in order to complete engineering exercises, architectural sketches and create a major independent project that will be printed on a 3D printer, or built for their school, and displayed for their community.

Teen Producers

Teen Producers is a career exploration and mentorship program for NYC public high school students who are passionate about the arts. Through paid internships at 92Y, attendance at cultural arts events and meetings with leaders across a variety of sectors, teens gain experience in the world of arts production and build a professional network in the field.

Spitzer Institute

The Spitzer Institute, supported by Anne & Bernard Spitzer, encourages high school students to think critically about contemporary issues and to understand the importance of taking an active role in shaping a democratic society. Talks and events cover current national and foreign topics.

Poetry Center

92Y’s Christopher Lightfoot Walker Literature Project inspires New York City public high school students to connect with contemporary and classic literature by attending Poetry Center readings and meeting with featured authors.

We offer a range of professional development programs for artists and educators specializing in music, visual art and dance. Our new professional development workshop for dance educators — Let’s Session: Hip-hop to the Top — builds on 92Y’s original hip-hop curriculum, aligned with the NYC Department of Education Blueprint for Teaching and Learning Dance in grades K-12. Through close collaboration with 92Y’s Dance Education Laboratory (DEL), Unterberg Poetry Center and School of the Arts, we help educators develop original curricula in their chosen genres.

92Y offers guidance to leaders at school communities and arts organizations to scale models and core values that foster strategies for strategic growth. We also specialize in helping artists and educators align curricula with the New York City Department of Education Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in grades K-12.

Our Center for Education Outreach brings the best of 92Y to schools in need, transforming schools and the lives of thousands of students every year. Join us in ensuring that all students have access to our one-of-a-kind programs.

Together, we can:

  • Put the best arts and sciences education and instruction in 50+ partner schools
  • Instill lifelong confidence, hope and valuable skills in children
  • Keep our programs FREE or at low cost to our partner schools
  • Reach more students in more schools every year
