Center for Education Outreach

The Dance Introduction Series (DIS) presents work choreographed by emerging, mid-career and legacy artists for young people studying dance in the NYC public schools through 92Y’s Schools Partnership Program.

DIS combines dance and discussion, allowing artists and audience to engage with each other and explore intersections among a variety of dance genres. Featured artists will include Ephrat Asherie, Dante Brown | Warehouse Dance, Kazunori Kumagai, Kensaku Shinohara.

Dates: Jan 9, 10, 16, 2018, 10 am and 11:30 am (1 hour long performance)
Place: 92nd Street Y, Buttenwieser Hall

Artist Bios

Ephrat Asherie

Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie has trained extensively in ballet and modern dance but found her artistic home in breaking, hip hop and house.

Dante Brown|Warehouse Dance

Dante Brown began his dance training at Wesleyan University, which led him to The Ohio State University to receive his MFA in Choreography.

Kazunori Kumagai

Kazunori Kumagai was born in Sendai City, Japan. He started tap dancing at the age of 15 and came to NY at the age of 19.

Kensaku Shinohara

Born in Sapporo, Japan, Kensaku Shinohara started dancing and creating his own work while studying anthropology at International Christian University in Tokyo in 2004.
