Born in Australia with Russian-Korean heritage, DK’s cultural identity has shaped her layered approach to design. Her work is often composed of hybrid concepts expressed through an array of techniques and textures. She blends traditional, hand-made jewelry techniques with the industrial, and precious metals with discarded materials.
From music videos to wedding rings, regardless of medium, DK simultaneously provokes and embraces outdated modes of luxury goods production and representation. A child of the 90s, she likes to examine the psychology of luxury consumerism which has informed the notions of success, wealth and health in which she inescapably participates.
Whilst working intricately with each piece, DK also considers its visual representation as a key part of completing the object’s lifecycle. She creates a visual-experience that corresponds to each unique piece by utilizing her background in graphic design, photography, film editing and event production.
DK is currently based in her home-town of Sydney. At present, she is a part of the Gem Z program by Current Obsession.
