Practice forming, forging, raising and planishing, and get an introduction to chasing and repoussé for jewelry and small objects.
All classes scheduled to occur onsite are subject to state and federal safety guidelines. In the event that some, or all, of the meetings of the course cannot happen in person at 92Y, classes will be held at the schedule time in a virtual format via a video conferencing platform. The classes will continue through hands-on, at home activities, lectures, presentations, and / or group discussions. No refunds will be issued should any portion of a course be held virtually.

Betsy Lewis is an artist currently living and working in New York. Her work includes techniques such as hollow forming, forging, and fabrication of non-ferrous metals. Primarily working in silver she creates uncanny, abject replacements for historical medical instrumentation and modern weaponry. Professional experience extends to working, assisting, and teaching at the Maine College of Art, Brooklyn Metalworks, and Ornamentum Gallery. Betsy has been awarded several education scholarships from the Peter’s Valley School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, and Haystack School of Crafts. ...
