Designed for poets who are inspired by objects and for potters who dare to try poetry.
What can ceramic objects say in a time of huge upheaval? They are emblems of function and emotion. Seemingly without voice, they can speak out about identity, brutality and bravery. And poetry can take its many voices from them, whether protesting injustice or insisting on new views of beauty. Shapes of objects can also provide shapes for stanzas. We will be hand building poems in formats that relate to the ceramic objects in Women and Ceramics, a splendid online exhibition at the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art. There will be time in the Zoom class for students to write their poems.
For those who have written for years or are brand new to poetry.
