Join 92Y School of Music teaching artist, George England, for our 4 day guitar intensive.
Students will hone their guitar technique, music theory, and musicianship in the a fun collaborative group setting.
Student should bring their guitar, a folder, and guitar tuner to class each day. Student must own their own guitar and it is recommended that students under 7 years old use a ½ size guitar preferably a nylon string acoustic guitar. It is expected that students will practice at home for 10 minutes a day.
Students must provide their own instruments. Class size limited to 8.

A native of Northern California, George England resides in New York City where he performs and teaches classical and modern guitar. His concerts span several style periods and highlight rare works as well as established favorites. He is regularly engaged as an ensemble player, most recently with the New York-based Ensemble Musica Humana, on vihuela and lute; on baroque guitar and theorbo with Sinfonia Spirituosa, based in Sacramento, California; with soprano, Dr. Kathleen O'Rourke, in Duo Raccontare; and as guitarist with New York City’s Cantanti Project.
George’s teaching is continually renewed and draws from multiple approaches. With an aim for the total development of the student, George meets students where they are and works with individuals to reach musical goals. George’s students have continued their studies at acclaimed programs across the country.
George has lectured at California State University Northridge, Yuba Community College in California, and instructs guitar and musicianship at the New York City Guitar School, Diller-Quaile School of Music and Great Neck Music Conservatory. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor of Music from California State University, Sacramento and Northridge, respectively. He has studied with Jerry Willard, Richard Savino, Steven Thachuk, and Ronald Purcell.
