This course breaks down the most important concepts from the most compelling artworks ever created.
We will identify these guiding principles and see how they apply to works from different ages and styles. Through shared exploration, we’ll uncover these unspoken rules, time tested strategies and ways of working that artists rely upon. Close looking, sharing ideas and dialogue are at the core of each meeting. Join the conversation as we learn from the newest scholarship, re-think long held ideas and gain a deeper insight into some amazing art.

Joseph Field earned his MA in Curating at Richmond University in London. His areas of specialty include Modern, Contemporary and Asian art. He has honed his expertise on these and other movements as an educator in New York City at Brooklyn College and the Guggenheim for the last ten years.
