The level I Italian course assumes no previous knowledge of Italian, so beginners are welcome!
It’s a great fit for those preparing to travel to Italy and for anyone who wants an introduction to the language. Students will practice greeting each other and introducing themselves, ordering at cafés and restaurants and communicating other basic needs, and discussing habits and hobbies in the present tense.

Jennifer Newman holds B.A.'s in French and Italian language and literature from Arizona State University, an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Long Island University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Italian from New York University, where she has taught Italian language and literature courses for 10 years. She has been teaching Italian at 92nd St. Y since 2008, and enjoys sharing her love of language, literature, film, food and culture with 92Y's enthusiastic adult students.
