This class is for beginner students or students who may have taken French in the past but have been out of practice.
Textbook required: French, A Self-Teaching Guide by Suzanne Herschfield-Haims, supplemented by hand-outs.
Chapters 1-5 will be covered in French I. Please note that some levels may also supplement lessons with a reader. Students will be told on the first day of class if their section requires one.

Victor Aka is a native French speaker who grew up in Paris. He read French/English/German translation at the Université de Savoie in France. He has worked on French language classroom content (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) and has been a French voice-over artist for animation (Audioworks Producers Group). He has extensive translation/interpretation industry experience managing projects for major French companies such as Air France, France Télécom, BNP Paribas.

Tanyika Carey holds a BA in psychology from Boston University and a MA in translation for French and Spanish from the CUNY Graduate Center. She studied at Université de Grenoble in France and teaches French, Spanish and ESL. Her past client list includes The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, Lauryn Hill and La Fábrica Films.
