Explore the power of dance as a vehicle for social justice.
This interactive, collaborative workshop will examine different models of dance and social justice that have existed throughout dance history. Use masterworks as an entry point, focus on cultural organizations and individual choreographers, and develop teaching strategies and curricular materials focused on societal inequalities and oppression. Recognize how dance can empower students to become responsible global citizens in the 21st century. Participants will develop authentic and relevant ways for dance to be a catalyst for social transformation.
