In this class, we explore poetry as an art of communication, imagination, and transformation. In particular, we critique student and model poems to examine aspects of innovation, control, and revision.
Class meets on Thursdays, February 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, and 11.
Students are chosen by Beaumont on the basis of a manuscript submission. Applications must be received by Wednesday, January 16 at 5 pm. Click here for submission guidelines.
Jeanne Marie Beaumont teaches in the Stonecoast MFA Program at the University of Southern Maine. She is the author of Curious Conduct, Burning of the Three Fires and Letters from Limbo. “She is a master at critiquing a student writer's work, a sensitive and smart reader and editor and very knowledgeable about poetry and writing,” wrote a former student.
