Rickie Lee Jones is an acclaimed song writer and singer with an impressive willingness to venture into new forms. Born in Chicago in 1954, and raised mostly in Arizona, she has described her family as “lower-middle-class-hillbilly-hipster." Her 1979 debut album, which included the enormously popular Chuck E’s in Love, won the Grammy for Best New Artist. Time magazine has called her “The Duchess of Coolsville.”
