Person Place Thing Episode 33: Sister Simone Campbell

Jul 25, 2013

The executive director of the advocacy group NETWORK, Sister Simone Campbell is a passionate advocate for social justice whose work is an expression of her religious faith. It is  good for one's development as a person to be reminded that people can arrive at a similar place by very different routes. Randy first heard of her during the “Nuns on the Bus” tour, when she led her fellow sisters across the country to fight the Paul Ryan budget. He wants that tour jacket.

  • PERSON: Sister Sára Salkaházi, a Hungarian nun who saved 100 Jews during WWII
  • PLACE: Hiking trail in Oakland’s Tilden Regional Park
  • THING: Her bible

92Y needs your help

Many of you have asked how you can help 92Y as we face tremendous financial losses due to Covid-19. From now through June 30, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $250,000 by an anonymous donor—going twice as far in supporting 92Y. You can help sustain our beloved institution and support the creation of new, online programming that will bring comfort and inspiration to our community. Thank you for anything you can do to help.
