Love in Fragments

Mar 6, 2019

How do we fall in and out of love? This luminous new work offers a provocative, evocative look at love in all its aspects and guises through music, movement, and art. Inspired by Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse and featuring music of Bach, Ravel, Jörg Widmann, and others, five extraordinary artists—violinist, cellist, choreographer, dancer, and sculptor (renowned artist and stage designer Alexander Polzin)—deliver a sensuous and powerful work that will change the way you think about love.

Alban Gerhardt, cello Gergana Gergova, violin Dan Pelleg, dancer Sommer Ulrickson, dancer and choreographer Alexander Polzin, visual artist John Torres, lighting designer Wojciech Dziedzic, costume designer

The Inflection series is made possible by a generous gift from Eva Colin Usdan and John Usdan to the Inventions and Variations Fund for the Arts. Additional major support for the series is generously provided by The Sidney E. Frank Foundation.
