This is a special performance with no audience in our concert hall. Available only by live stream.
In this final concert of our 2019/20 vocal series, we are privileged to welcome the “charismatic star” (The Boston Globe) mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron in a program of songs by Gustav Mahler.
The program begins with Beethoven’s ode to a distant beloved, before the acclaimed young mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron, hailed as “a knockout performer” (The Times) brings us deep into the world of Gustav Mahler, singing his magnificent Rückert-Lieder. Following intermission, Barron’s “thrillingly dark and rich-veined mezzo” (Seen and Heard International) performs selections from another collection of songs by Mahler based on poems of Friedrich Rückert: the heart-rending Kindertotenlieder.
Beethoven, An die ferne Geliebte, Op. 98
