This conversation between Norman Mailer and George Plimpton, part of a collaboration between 92Y’s Unterberg Poetry Center and The Paris Review, was recorded live at 92Y on May 11, 1998. We are able to share this recording thanks to a generous gift in memory of Christopher Lightfoot Walker, longtime friend of the Poetry Center and The Paris Review. Two interviews with Mailer appeared in The Review over the years: one with Steven Marcus in 1964 and one with Andrew O’Hagan in 2007.
Many of you have asked how you can help 92Y as we confront tremendous financial losses due to COVID-19. Your generous gift will help sustain our beloved institution and will also support the creation of new, online programming that will bring comfort and inspiration to our community.
Together, we will get through this. Thank you.
