92Y is open

We are thrilled to welcome you back to our building. Please make sure to plan ahead before your visit. A review of our reopening guide can orient you before you arrive at 92Y and help you get the most out of your program.

Your health and safety are our highest priorities, and we have put in place a robust set of measures in line with all CDC, state and federal guidelines. Air quality has been improved through increased filtration and ventilation, and cleaning protocols have been increased in all areas of 92Y.

Visitor Guidelines

  • Cloth-based masks that cover the nose and mouth must be worn at all times by everyone over the age of two. Bandanas, buffs, gaiters and masks with exhaling valves are unacceptable. If you are medically unable to tolerate a mask, please contact us.
  • Everyone must sanitize their hands upon entering the building as well as their program area. Hand sanitizer stations are in place throughout our facilities.
  • All community members will undergo a temperature check and wellness screening upon entering the building. Anyone reading over 100.4°F will not be admitted. You must be able to answer “no” to these questions:
  • In the past 10 days, have you or anyone in your household:
    • Been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
    • Tested positive for COVID-19?
    • Had a fever, a new loss of taste or smell, had vomiting, diarrhea, a cough, shortness of breath or sore throat?
  • Restrooms and locker rooms have limited capacity. Please arrive dressed for your program.
  • All water fountains throughout 92Y are closed. Please consider bringing your own water bottle, with your name on it, with enough water for your visit.
  • Please plan to arrive no earlier than five minutes before your program starts, and depart immediately after the end of class.
  • Elevators are limited to a maximum of four people at a time, and stairways are one direction only. Please follow signage accordingly.
  • Only those attending programs will be allowed in the classrooms and studios. Family, friends and caregivers must meet students downstairs in the lobby.

Health Guide

COVID-19 Symptoms (per CDC): fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

If…

Then…

You have one (or more) of the COVID-19 symptoms listed above.
  • Please stay home.
  • Request a doctor’s appointment with your physician or a local urgent care center for a lab confirmed COVID-19 test AND a health evaluation
You experienced symptoms, but your COVID-19 test results are negative.
  • Stay home 10 days since symptoms first appeared OR until you are symptom-free for 72 hours AND have received a non-COVID diagnosis from your physician.
  • If you have been in close contact with someone known to have COVID-19, continue to quarantine until 10 days have passed from your last contact.
Your COVID-19 test results are positive.
  • Notify the Director of your 92Y Program or your instructor immediately.
  • Stay home for 10 days since symptoms first appeared AND until fever- and symptom-free for 72 hours without medication.
Someone in your household has COVID-19 symptoms, but you do not.
  • You can attend the 92Y program IF the household member with symptoms self-isolates until they receive a negative test result, a non-COVID diagnosis from a physician AND have no symptoms for 72 hours.
Someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19
  • You must quarantine at home for 10 days.
Someone in your household is in quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 case in their school or workplace.
  • If your household member is completely quarantined from you and everyone else in your household, as long as you remain symptom-free, you can continue to attend your 92Y program. If it is not possible to completely quarantine your household member, you must not return until the quarantine period is complete. (Refer to previous two sections if that household member starts to experience symptoms or receives a positive test result.)
You have a chronic condition, such as allergies.
  • You can continue to attend the 92Y program IF your symptoms are consistent with those associated with the chronic condition.
You traveled outside of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
  • You must quarantine for 10 days (or complete the "test out" option) in order for you to return to 92Y.
A household member traveled outside of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts or Vermont.
  • You may return to 92Y if:
    • The household member can self-isolate or
    • The household member has quarantined for 10 days (or completed the "test out" option)
  • If the household member cannot self-isolate, you must also stay at home for the duration of the quarantine.
You have been fully vaccinated within the last 90 days.
  • You do not need to quarantine or “test out” after traveling domestically. You are exempt from quarantine, including after travelling domestically, provided it is within 90 days of your second shot AND you are asymptomatic.

Program-specific guidelines


Programs in Kaufmann Concert Hall

Welcome back to 92Y.  

Patrons attending programs in Kaufmann Concert Hall should enter 92Y at the entrance on 92nd Street (between Lexington and Third Avenues).  

For everyone’s safety, we have enacted the following protocols. 

  • Your order information will be used for contact tracing purposes. 
  • Each party will be assigned an arrival / entry time. *Upon arrival, please present a government-issued photo ID and: 
    • Your Excelsior Pass; or
    • Confirmation of a negative Covid-19 PCR/NAAT test taken within 72 hours of the event start time; or 
    • Confirmation of a Covid-19 antigen “rapid” test taken within 6 hours of the event start time, or 
    • Confirmation of having completed the Covid-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the date of the event. 
    *Not required for in-person performances where audience capacity is under 100 people 
  • All Patrons entering the venue will: 
    • have their temperature taken. Any Patrons with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher will be turned away; and 
    • be required to complete a verbal health screening questionnaire; and 
    • be required to wear two masks at all times while in the building; and 
    • use hand sanitizer, provided at check-in, before entering the building. 
  • All programs will be presented without intermission, and we ask that you remain seated for the program except to use the restroom.  
  • No large bags will be permitted in the venue, and no coat / bag check will be available.  

    Any Patron who is unable to provide a negative COVID-19 test result or does not pass the health screening will not be admitted.  

Art Center

  • We are excited to welcome you back to the studios! Please familiarize yourself with these procedures before you come back to class.
  • Art Center on-site programming is running on a reduced, staggered schedule to ensure proper cleaning and social distancing at all times.
  • Classrooms have been marked with signage and equipment has been spaced out to ensure students and teachers can maintain social distance. Please follow these notifications and do not move any equipment in classrooms.
  • Please keep your workspaces clean. Wipe your shared areas and tools before and after use. Sanitation stations with wipes/spray and paper towels are available in all classrooms.
  • Communal spaces in studio areas like the sink are limited to one person at a time. Please allow for extra time to clean your supplies in order to depart on time after class ends, so that the next class can enter on schedule.
  • Lobby and hallway spaces should remain clear to allow for social distancing. Please do not congregate in these areas.
  • We recommend eating before or after class. Food is not permitted to be consumed in studios or other spaces in the building.
  • If accessing your locker, please allow for social distancing. Capacity is limited for the locker space behind the Art Center office to four patrons at a time. For hallway lockers, please wait if someone is less than six feet away from the locker you need to access.

Clubhouse

What to bring

Children should bring at least one snack and lunch each day. Please do not send any food with nuts. Food does not have to be Kosher.

Two or three (already sharpened) pencils and a set of markers or crayons

Items such as rulers and calculators needed for homework or remote learning

General Cleaning and COVID-19 Safety Procedures

Clubhouse children will be separated into enrichment cohorts to ensure social distancing and to limit exposure at all times.

Any shared space (bathrooms, lunch space and art studios) will be wiped down regularly throughout the day, especially between cohorts. Every evening, a deep cleaning of the entire clubhouse floor will take place.

Remote Learning Support

92Y Clubhouse staff will support remote learning while wearing masks at all times.

In order that we may support your child’s remote learning, please send your child to clubhouse with a physical list of all passwords for their computer, Google classroom, or any sites they may need to access.

Parent Policies

Parents must watch our Virtual Orientation Session Zoom prior to their child starting the program.

Parents are expected to assist their child in disinfecting tablets, computers, lunchboxes and other items that enter the clubhouse.

Parents should refrain from gathering in groups during class or at drop-off and pick-up.

We will be using the Brightwheel app for daily sign-in/sign-out and health checks. Anyone who will be picking up or dropping off your child will need to use the Brightwheel app to do so.

Gymnastics & Parkour

We are excited to welcome you back to our building! Please read through this information before you arrive for the day.

 Getting to the Gym

  • Parents and caregivers are not permitted into the building. Coaches will meet athletes in front of the 92Y building for drop-off and pick-up.
  • The Gymnastics Studio in the Sky is located on the Penthouse Level. To promote social distancing, a one-way system is in place on the stairways. Children are asked to walk up Stairwell A to the gym and down Stairway B to the lobby. A 92Y coach will escort children in the elevators if they are unable to take the stairs.

In the Gym

  • Coaches are required to wear a mask at all times. Athletes must wear masks when entering/leaving the studios and in common areas. Athletes are encouraged to wear masks while warming up and training when appropriate. For most apparatus work and advanced skills, masks are not required per USA Gymnastics Guidelines.
  • Reduced capacities and social distancing zones are in place in all gymnastics spaces.
  • No street shoes are allowed in the gymnastics spaces.
  • Team athletes are expected to carry and maintain their own equipment to limit sharing.

General Cleaning and COVID-19 Safety Procedures

  • Gymnastics and Parkour are running on a reduced schedule to ensure social distancing and limit exposure.
  • Studios will be shut down frequently throughout the day for thorough cleaning of all equipment, mats, heavily touched surfaces.
  • Coaches sanitize stations prior to moving to the next event.
  • Carpets will be steam cleaned at least once a week.

Parent Policies

  • 92Y Athletics will host several Virtual Parent Meetings each semester to help answer questions regarding protocols and/or sports training in general. Attendance is encouraged.
  • There are no regular parent observations at this time.
  • Parents are expected to assist their child in disinfecting their personal gym bag and items that enter the studio on a regular basis.

May Center Member Workouts & Personal Training

We are excited to welcome you back to the gym! Please familiarize yourself with these procedures before your visit.

Reservation System

  • All workouts and personal training sessions require a reservation, which can made using our online reservation system. To “Register,” members will need their Agreement number, which can be found on the copy of their membership agreement.
  • Basketball Shoot-Around sessions will be available mid-day, evenings and weekends. Reservations are required for each visit and can be made at the May Center’s online membership site or at 92Y.org/ShootAround.

 Getting to the Gym

  • Participants must wash/sanitize their hands before entering the gym.
  • Locker rooms are open. We have created a daily-use locker card system to maintain social distancing. Members & Staff can obtain a locker card from the Welcome Desk. The restroom areas have limited capacity. We suggest arriving dressed for your workout.
  • Showers, hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms are closed. Towel service is suspended.
  • Bring your own water bottle with your name on it. Water fountains throughout 92Y are closed, but bottle filling stations are available.
  • To promote social distancing, a one-way system is in place on the stairways. Please use Stairway A to go up to the Third Floor of the May Center, and Stairway B to descend to the lobby. If you are unable to take the stairs, limited elevators will be available but social distancing must be adhered to.

 In the Gym

  • Members are required to wipe down all equipment before and after use, and should not share personal items with others.
  • Limited cardio & strength training equipment available to enable physical distancing. Foam rollers, mats, bands, jump ropes, medicine balls will be unavailable. Members are encouraged to bring their own mats, light weights and exercise bands. Exercise bands are also available for purchase at our Welcome Desk.
  • Free weight exercises that require a spotter may only be performed by a personal trainer, or a member of the member’s household. Masks must be worn, and spotting must be conducted in the shortest possible time.

May Center Pool

Member Lap Swim: Getting to the Pool

  • All lap swimming is by reservation-only. Sessions are 30-45 minutes. Members must reserve swim sessions in advance. Registration opens 48 hours prior to sign up.
  • All swimmers must check in at the front desk to confirm their lap swim reservation and then check in for date/time entry tracking, used for contact tracing.
  • All swimmers are required to wear face coverings when traveling to and from the pool deck. Face coverings may only be removed when the swimmer is entering the water. Swimmers are responsible for bringing their own labeled, watertight bag for on-deck face covering storage while swimming.
  • Swimmers are assigned a start/finish point in the pool.
  • Locker rooms are open. We have created a daily-use locker card system to maintain social distancing. Members can obtain a locker card from the Welcome Desk. The restroom areas have limited capacity. We suggest arriving in swim attire.
  • Showers, hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms are closed. Socially distant, on-deck showers are available for rinsing pre-and post-swimming.
  • No hair dryers or towel service provided. Swimmers should bring their own towels.
  • No shared equipment (i.e. kick boards, fins, etc.). Swimmers must bring their own caps and goggles.
  • Swimmers must follow directional signs to enter and exit the pool deck.
  • Lap swim has a maximum of two swimmers per lane.
  • High-touch surface cleaning is conducted between swim sessions, and full shutdowns occur periodically throughout the day for deep cleaning.

Swim Team/Swim Lessons: Getting to the Pool

  • 92Y staff will meet each swim lesson or swim team group in front of 92Y or in the main lobby and escort them to the 3rd floor Welcome Desk to complete the check-in process. Do not arrive more than five minutes prior to the start of your session.
  • Swimmers should arrive in swim attire. Showers remain closed. Socially distant, on-deck showers are available for rinsing pre-and post-swimming.
  • No towel service or hair dryers provided.
  • Swim Lessons: no use of toys or shared equipment; Swim Team athletes must bring and disinfect their own equipment.
  • Prior to entering the pool deck, everyone must sanitize their hands.
  • Masks must be worn prior to entering the pool and then stored in a labeled, water-tight bag during practice/lesson time.
  • Instructors/coaches take attendance prior to the start of the program. All swimmers must also check in at the front desk prior to entering the locker rooms.
  • Follow directional signs to enter and exit the pool deck.

Parent Policies:

May Center Group Exercise Classes

We are excited to welcome you back to our Group Exercise classes! Please familiarize yourself with these procedures before your visit.

Reservation System

  • All group exercise classes require a reservation, which can be made using our online reservation system. You will need your membership agreement number to register, which is located on your original membership agreement that was issued to you upon first joining the May Center. Members must check in at the third floor Welcome Desk or on the Penthouse level for Rooftop Classes.

Getting to the Gym

  • Participants must wash/sanitize their hands before entering the gym and wear an approved face covering at all times while in the 92Y Building, including the Rooftop Terrace. Note: bandannas, buffs and gaiters are NOT acceptable face coverings for use in the May Center and in classes. Please bring a second mask in case you need to change it after your workout.
  • Locker rooms are open. We have created a daily-use locker card system to maintain social distancing. Members and staff may obtain a locker card from the Welcome Desk. The restroom areas have limited capacity. We suggest arriving dressed for your workout.
  • Please bring your own towel. Showers, hot tubs, sauna, and steam rooms are closed.
  • Bring your own water bottle with your name on it. Water fountains throughout 92Y are closed, but bottle filling stations are available.
  • Members are encouraged to bring their own mats, light weights and exercise bands. Exercise bands are also available for purchase at our Welcome Desk. Limited hand weights will be provided for select classes.
  • Equipment used in classes will be disinfected before class. After class, please help us by placing used equipment in designated bins for cleaning.
  • Group Exercise venues will be shut down frequently throughout the day for thorough cleaning of all heavily touched surfaces.
  • To promote social distancing, a one-way system is in place on the stairways. Please use Stairway A to go up to the Third Floor of the May Center, and Stairway B to descend to the lobby. If you are unable to take the stairs, limited elevators will be available, but social distancing must be adhered to.

In the class

  • Please be on time and arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the start of the class.
  • Entrance after the warm-up period (10 minutes) will be denied.
  • Members should not share personal items or equipment with others.
  • Floor markings/cones will be placed to ensure social distancing. Maintain the six-feet of social distancing by limiting movements to remain in your designated spot.

Musical Theater

  • We are so excited to welcome you back to our studios! Please read our guidelines before you come back to class.
  • Parents and caregivers are not permitted on the second floor and must meet their performers downstairs in the lobby.
  • No street shoes are allowed in the studios.

 General Cleaning and COVID-19 Safety Procedures

  • Dance on-site programming is running on a reduced schedule to ensure proper cleaning, social distancing and to limit exposure at all times.
  • A 20-40 minute cleaning break takes place between each class, when all surfaces are wiped down and sanitized by staff, including bathrooms, floor spots, sanitization table and dance floor.

 Dancers’ Safety

  • Instructors will teach from a six-foot distance. No physical correction will be given.
  • Partner activities will be eliminated from class and routines.

Parent Policies

  • Parents must attend a Virtual Parent Meeting prior to their child’s return to 92Y to learn about 92Y’s safety policies.
  • There is no regular parent observation for dance classes. Classes may be streamed on Zoom if a parent needs to observe the class.
  • Parents will be expected to assist their child in disinfecting dance shoes, water bottles and other items entering the studio.
  • Parents should refrain from gathering in groups at drop-off or pick-up.

Pickleball

  • We are excited to welcome you back to our building! Please read these guidelines before returning to the gym.
  • Locker rooms are temporarily closed and our restrooms have limited capacity. Please arrive dressed for Pickleball.
  • Only water bottle filling stations are available at this time. Water fountains throughout 92Y are closed.
  • To promote social distancing, a one-way system is in place on the stairways. Please use Stairway A to go up to the Third Floor of the May Center, and Stairway B to descend to the lobby. If you are unable to take the stairs, limited elevators will be available but social distancing must be adhered to.

 In the Gym

  • Coaches and spectators are required to wear a mask at all times. Participants may remove their mask while in active play, but must replace it at all other times and are encouraged to wear the mask at all times.
  • Capacity in the Lane Gym is reduced to 15 individuals and in the Mack Gym to 10 individuals.
  • Please bring your own racket. 92Y will provide sanitized equipment, if needed.
  • A bucket of sanitized balls will be provided for each session.
  • Athletic gloves are recommended, but not required.
  • Players will be instructed to use paddles and feet to pick up and transfer balls to opponents.

General Cleaning and COVID-19 Safety Procedures

  • Start times will be staggered by a minimum of 15-minute intervals to help reduce congestion.
  • 92Y staff will sanitize pickleballs, ball holders and all pickleball equipment between each session.

Residence

92Y has devised a robust health and safety plan based on guidance from NYS, the CDC, and Sate and City Health Departments. To address the risks presented by COVID-19 and to enable a comfortable and secure living environment for 92Y residents, 92Y has adopted the following New York State Department of Health’s list of mandatory guidelines and suggested best practices for the health and safety of all.
