Facilities, Lodging, and Dining
Camp Kesher and Kesher Junior take place at the New Jersey Y Camps, located in Milford, PA. Our camps operate independently, but enjoy full use of the New Jersey Y Camps' facility and beautiful, rustic surroundings. There is a private lake with a variety of boating activities, outstanding arts facilities, newly refurbished athletics facilities and beautiful wooded areas with hiking and biking trails.
The bunk is a place for close-knit conversations and learning how to live with others; an atmosphere that fosters trust and cooperation and leads to lifelong friendships. Bunks house 10 to 15 children and two to three staff members, and each bunk is equipped with indoor showers and bathrooms.
Our kosher camp cuisine, prepared in a fully modern kitchen, provides campers with many delicious options. Food is served cafeteria style, so campers get to choose what to eat, a fact sure to please those with particular tastes. Breakfast features a cereal and dried fruit bar as well as a hot entree. Lunch and dinner similarly offer a salad bar with fresh vegetables and fruits to supplement the hot options available to campers. During meat meals, vegetarian entrees are always provided.
A fully equipped infirmary is staffed by registered nurses and a resident doctor is available at all times. In case of an emergency, there is a hospital 10 minutes away.
Activities and Daily Programs
Campers gain confidence and self-esteem as they enjoy new and challenging experiences. They participate in a wide variety of exciting activities, including water sports, athletics, specialized arts, nature and much more. Nightly entertainment includes talent shows, dances, barbeques and twilight sports under the stars.
Activities include athletics (soccer, basketball, softball, tennis, rollerblading), adventure (archery, zipline, mountain biking, ropes course), waterfront (Olympic size pool, private lake, boating, banana boating, jet ski rides), specialized arts (ceramics, painting, woodworking, rocketry), nature, cooking and more.
Evening programs include barbeques, campfires, talent shows, dances and more.
Our warm, caring, mature staff is made up of dedicated college students and educators who are committed to giving your child the experience of a lifetime. Kesher counselors nurture each child's particular interests and needs, providing a hand to hold, an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on and always an encouraging word. Campers feel safe and secure ... and so do parents. The Kesher Director serves as a contact for parents through the time of the child's stay. Kesher also benefits from the presence of all of the staff of the New Jersey Y Camps, an organization that has been providing excellent summers to children for over 80 years.
The cost of Kesher includes round-trip transportation from 92nd Street Y, canteen fees and a camp t-shirt. Special "combo packages" are available which allow 92nd Street Y day campers from Yomi, Haverim and Tevah camps to experience sleepaway camp while still enjoying these day camps for the rest of their summer. Tuitions are prorated through these combo offers. Children benefit from the best of both worlds and have a truly complete camp experience. Other children join us for Kesher only and do not come from 92Y's day camps.
