IRA Charitable Giving Rollover for 2012/13

Have you heard? The IRA Charitable Rollover has been extended through the end of 2013.

If you or a loved one are over 70-1/2 years old, this means you can support your favorite causes tax-free, by making a gift to charity from your IRA.

And by acting before Friday, February 1, 2013, you can make a tax-free IRA Rollover Gift for 2012—of up to $100,000.

Please consider using your IRA funds in a gift to 92nd Street Y. While we can’t offer you tax advice, we can assure you that your generous gift will help ensure that the programs you love are available for years—and generations—to come.

You may take advantage of this limited-time benefit in any of the following ways:

  • If you already made a withdrawal from your IRA in December 2012, you may contribute all or a portion of the amount distributed to 92nd Street Y before Friday, February 1, 2013, and have it deemed a qualified charitable distribution made in 2012.

  • You may also make a qualified charitable distribution directly from your IRA to 92nd Street Y in January 2013 and have it be treated as if the distribution were made in 2012.

  • You may distribute up to $200,000 from your IRA to 92nd Street Y this year (with $100,000 counting for 2012 and $100,000 counting for 2013).

Thank you for considering 92nd Street Y in your plans. Your donation will be greatly appreciated by the thousands of people in our community whose lives you’ll touch through your generosity.
