Alicia Bennett has lived in New York since 2001 and is active as a clarinetist and private music teacher in the New York area. In addition to a private studio, Alicia teaches at the 92nd Street Y and the Music Academy of Long Island; she has also taught for Stony Brook University's Pre-College Music Program and Suffolk Community College; in summers she contributes her teaching skills to the Hummingbird Music Camp in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Alicia plays with New York City-based orchestra Camerata Notturna and the clarinet quartet Utopia Winds. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico, and her M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in clarinet performance from Stony Brook University. Past notable engagements include an Artist Residency at the Banff Center for Performing Arts; Bang-On-A-Can's 20th Anniversary Concert; and a Merkin Hall performance with the Contemporary Chamber Players of Stony Brook.
