USA Basketball-accredited sports at 92Y
92Y has been selected as one of 12 nationally-recognized pilot programs for USA Basketball’s new youth development initiative. This is a great accomplishment for 92Y’s kids’ sports programs as we continues to grow and help our athletes develop physically and mentally.
92Y is currently the only location in New York City to become fully-accredited by USA Basketball and all of our volunteer coaches have completed this new certification.
As part of the certification process all of our coaches and administrators have a background check, go through SafeSport training and obtain an USA Basketball coaching license. With their certification, all of our coaches have access to age-appropriate teaching techniques from the USA Basketball Youth Development Guidebook. Our classes, clinics, private coaching, leagues and teams will greatly benefit from the expertise of USA Basketball’s curriculum and expertise.
We are very proud to partner with USA Basketball and help them launch a program that will improve the skills, sportsmanship and experience for young athletes!
Youth Programming at the May Center is supported by The Starr Foundation, Bonnie and Daniel Tisch, Cathy and Marc Lasry, Suzanne and Jonathan Rosenzweig, and Pamela and Gary Ostrow, among numerous others.
