Ethan Lipton

Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra have been together since 2005 and released five albums. Comprised of Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass), Vito Dieterle (sax) and Lipton (vocals), the quartet is based in NYC, where it has played Joe’s Pub, Bryant Park, Celebrate Brooklyn, the Bell House, Barbes and many places in between. Recently the band has been touring “No Place to Go,” their Obie-Award winning music theater piece which has taken them to Vermont, Virginia, LA, New Jersey and East Sussex, England. Dubbed the city's "Best Lounge Act" by New York Magazine, the band has been featured on "Weekend Edition," "The World" and "Soundcheck," as well as on the Clash cover album Sandinista. Songwriter Lipton is also a playwright whose works include Red-Handed Otter (Cherry Lane), Luther (Clubbed Thumb), The Barber and the Farmer (3LD, Motherlodge), Goodbye April Hello May (HERE), 100 Aspects of the Moon (the Ohio) and Meat (Edinburgh, the Powerhouse in LA). Ethan has worked extensively with Clubbed Thumb and is currently the Playwright's Realm's Page One Resident. As a performer, he originated the role of Klipspringer in Elevator Repair Service’s production of Gatz, and he has worked with Laurie Anderson, Cynthia Hopkins and Matt Berninger.

Howard Fishman

Critically-acclaimed singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader Howard Fishman's exuberant, spontaneous and unvarnished music has made him a favorite of audiences and critics alike. Ever-evolving and increasingly difficult to pin down, Fishman filters a deep passion for New Orleans jazz, Brooklyn soul, open-hearted country, blues and gospel music through a completely original, experimental aesthetic, to create a sound entirely his own. The New York Times has written that his music "transcends time and idiom."

Fishman began his musical career on the streets of New Orleans and in the subways of New York before landing his first major engagement at the Algonquin Oak Room in 1999. Since then, he has headlined in some of the most prestigious venues in the US and abroad, including: Lincoln Center, The Steppenwolf Theatre, The Blue Note, The Pasadena Playhouse, Joe's Pub, The Great American Music Hall and Le Petit Journal in Paris. A testament to his wide-ranging appeal, Fishman has appeared on bills with such diverse artists as Odetta, Yo Yo Ma, Maceo Parker, Califone, Robyn Hitchcock, Madeleine Peyroux, Allen Holdsworth and Nellie McKay.

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
