It's no exaggeration to say that David Weinstone has changed the musical geography of New York.
As creator of the Music for Aardvarks classes that take place all over the five boroughs and across the country, he and his music have gotten thousands of tiny toes tapping and launched at least one major singing career. So come out to hear the electro-funk of "Big Boom Whacker" or the whimsical blues of "Belly Button Song" performed live. It's a safe bet they'll play the Aardvarks song "Big Old Tree" and a lot of your youngster's favorites from his astounding collection of twelve CDs, including his newest release Taxi.
Music for Aardvarks, a multi-faceted world of musical adventures, was created by classically trained ex-punk rocker David Weinstone. Raising his kids in New York City, Weinstone saw a need for songs relevant to their lives that would also address themes universal to children everywhere. Music for Aardvarks is rocking live performances by David Weinstone & The Music for Aardvarks Band; it’s music videos airing daily nationwide on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. channel; it's CDs that are grounded in real life, yet hip, with songs like "Taxi," "Bagel," "Play Date" and "Subway;" it's celebrating childhood without hype or straining to be different for the sake of being different. And speaking of hip, it's also the love child of punk and preschool, hailed by such notables as Philip Glass and Sonic Youth.
"The songs are about subways, elevators, taxis, playdates and other realities of a city kid's life ... Like great children's books or films, they seem to work for both grownups and children."—New York Daily News
