Lay some fresh eyes on your grade school slumber party staple.
It's the 1970s in suburban Indiana, and life is only starting to extend beyond the familiar cul-de-sac for the four friends of Now and Then. While investigating the mysterious death of a young boy, the adolescent girl gang grows obsessed with death, divorce and other things that go on behind closed doors in the suburbs – fascinations that follow them into divergent adulthoods. Through séances and red rover, brown cows and Tony Orlando & Dawn on the radio, their bonds of friendship are tested. Apple-cheeked, fresh-faced stars Christina Ricci, Thora Birch and Gaby Hoffmann, plus 90’s hunk Devon Sawa prove that growing up is hard.
The screening will include an introduction to the film by Bonnie & Maude and a presentation on other memorable bra-stuffing moments in cinema history.
