Sometimes you hear a voice, and it simply makes you feel...Better. New York City native, Emily Warren, has been breathing music since the day she was born. Already vigorously writing songs and singing by age eleven, Emily shocked everyone around with her incredible knack for making music. In January of 2009, the quirky 16 year old singer/multi-instrumentalist decided she was ready to take the stage. She didn't have to look far to find Gab Bowler (Bass) and Etienne Bowler (Drums); longtime friends of her older brother. Together, they formed Emily Warren & the Betters. Welding the Betters' strong knowledge of afro-reggae and synth-dance music with Emily's deliciously rhythmic song style, the band generates tunes filled with beat-beatin', sweat-inducing grooves held together with sweet, unforgettable melodies that chill you to your bone. Only months after forming, the band laid down a couple tracks ("Are you Okay" and "For a While") with producer David Kahne (Sublime, Regina Spektor and Paul McCartney), who had taken a liking to their unique style. By the end of her first year in action, Emily had won two singing/songwriting competitions (Berklee song writer performance and Pure Pop 2009) and the band had performed at some of NYC's top venues. Now in the music program at NYU, she's part of a community of young artists who are pushing the music of this city forward.

Warren returns to the venue with her friends Mandy Lee, Alison Valentine and Phoebe Ryan of Town Hall, who will open up the night with a solo set.

Priority registration puts you at the front of the line to register for courses and events for an upcoming semester.

Eligible patrons will be able to order priority registration online.

 

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
