Music naturally draws your attention to accents and verve in certain time points of a piece.

Teacher - Dr. Gabriella Musacchia
Assistant Teacher - Vicki Burns

By focusing attention to those times through instruments and dance, toddlers in the “Big Players” class pick up on the musical cues of “dynamics”.  Attention to music dynamics helps form the building blocks for understanding spoken language because the same types of dynamic cues convey emotion and intent in oral language. Music activities in this age range focus on "lessons" of rhythmic structure (like downbeats), accent as well as important social cues like turn-taking and participation in group goals. Gross and fine rhythmic motor skills are promoted by joining caregivers and teachers in music making and dance.  As the toddlers enjoy the fun they are also learning to master fundamental body-awareness skills in new ways. They are fun and exciting activities for everyone!

Baby Rhythmsis a music program for infants and toddlers designed to awaken perception of world rhythms and boost early communication skills.  Our approach is strongly based on decades of cognitive and development research showing positive, long-term effects of early music learning. In Baby Rhythmsclasses, age-appropriate group activities are paired with exciting music from different cultures to expand the musical “repertoire” of early learners.  Our emphasis on caregiver interaction helps infants and toddlers learn by example to take turns, play music, dance and have fun doing it!
