As the 100th anniversary of the 1913 Armory Show in New York approaches—a landmark event that signaled the integration of modernism into American culture—it has inspired a special series of curated visits to six art fairs.
New York-based independent curator and longtime instructor at 92Y, Margaret Mathews-Berenson, will serve as your personal guide to a selection of upcoming art fairs in New York, including the following: AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers), THE ARMORY SHOW, FRIEZE NEW YORK, IFPDA (International Fine Print Dealers Association), OUTSIDER ART FAIR and WORKS ON PAPER. A must for students, artists, collectors or anyone interested in the contemporary art scene. Discussions focus on the history of the influential Armory Show of 1913 and its impact on the New York art community past and present while we tour some of the most prestigious contemporary art fairs in New York.
Admission to the fairs is additional. Senior and student discounts may apply.
6 Sessions: Fri, Nov 2, Jan 25, Feb 22, Mar 8, Mar 29 and May 3,11:30 am-1:00 pm, $275
